Hi there! My name is Erika Anne and I am The Kind Earth Witch. I have been potting since 2020, having found the media during the pandemic like so many other fantastic makers out there. However that was not my first encounter with Ceramics. My Degree is in Anthropology which I studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I engaged on many levels with ceramics in my anthropology classes and archeology internships, digging up, studying and piecing together ceramics on the mission trail (Along with cow dung and fire ants). I also lived in Germany for much of my young life and engaged with history and pottery on a level that I didn't fully understand at the time.
For me ceramics is the perfect combination of the past, present and future. It requires each of the four corners (earth, air, water and fire) and is part of every culture in the world. Every single creation myth talks about pottery and clay in some way- most of the time it features significantly in our creation stories.
Where the world divides us, pottery reminds me that we are all connected- we all have a shared history, for good or bad, and can all bound over the creative and tactile.
When I am not potting, I am working in my accounting day job, running, writing or generally goofing off with anyone else who is willing to let their passion make them speak faster and louder. I am a witch- believing that all things have souls and are animated and important.
Everything that you purchase from my shop has been hand made, thrown, carved and blessed with my love and intension. And with every purchase you fund my growth in this art and the art that connects us all. I hope pieces here call to you the way that it calls to me.
